These are some pictures of wonderful Asian Leopard Cats. This cat was used as the original wild ancestor of the Bengal Cats we know today. Some Asian Leopard Cats are still being used in programs although not wide spread. You must be licensed and have special permits to own these beautiful wild creatures. |

The Asian Leopard Cat is found all over India, Asia and Southeast Asia. Different sub species with slightly different size and physical characteristics depend on the specific area they are living. |

The head on the cat to the left above shows the rounder head which is exhibited by males that are breeding. They develop jowls. Whereas the female Asian Leopard Cat has a more narrow head and smaller body. Also notice the whited undersides on the boy above. This is hard to produce in the domestic bengal cat although we are working toward it. Also those very small ears and large eyes are very desirable traits in the domestic bengal cat. |
